At this moment, I am in the process of filling out a job application. I got to thinking about what I'm doing and how the last time I filled out a job application, I was 16 years old...16!!!!!
I was a sophomore in high school...no concept of anything
Really this blog is not necessarily about filling out job application
Although a new job is a small change, before we realize it, change does overtake our lives in a big way.
By nature, I am as sentimental as they come. I like to hold on to what I've come to know. I never really have embraced change and had a hard time accepting it.
However, as I've gotten older, I've found change all around me. The very essence of who I am has transformed before I realized it.
It is inevitable...we change....
Who we are
What we say
How we act/react
Our wants and desires
The way we live
The way we think
The way we observe
The way we see ourselves
Our likes/dislikes
How we look
How we relate
How we love
How we communicate
How we open our hearts
The definition of our worth
Who we associate with
More importantly I believe..Who we don't associate with
I've come to find in myself that my immaturity and self-inflated and self-serving idea of who I am and what I want is withering away. I don't want to be doing the same old thing with the same old people. I want people in my life who will be the catalyst for change...
I want growth, maturity, refining, and molding to take place in me. I don't want to be known for who I was a few years ago. In a few years from now, I don't want to be known for who I am now.
The one verse that seems to reverberate when I think about this is
Ecclesiastes 7:10:
Don’t long for “the good old days.” This is not wise.
There was a time that I was in constant thought about how awesome it would be to go back to the good old days.
I have to stop myself and ask why??
I love where I am at and the path I am taking. The people I've met. The relationships I've gained. The perspective I've received. My definition of who I am.
This is where I want to be without a doubt.
If you'll consider this... evaluate who you are and what you want to become. Who do you associate with? What are your goals?
Don't be afraid to embrace change
Psalm 27:4: The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life...

Sleep

I accidentally slept in today...
accidentally?
yes, accidentally
I hate sleeping in late.
The fact that I've already wasted half my day upsets me to a certain extent.
It's weird that I also feel like a bum when I sleep so late..like I'm missing out on something. Or should be doing something productive
I don't get it either
Anyway, I think the worst for me though is when I have to get up early.
I always, and seriously I mean always, wake up in a freaked out panic at least 5 to 6 times in the middle of the night to check the time on my phone.
It was bad when I was playing football in college and had to get up early for practice or workouts...I was up every half hour
so um, I guess now you know
This was random

I'd say I am terrible

Back in Action!!
OK
It's been a while.........2 weeks?
Two weeks really isn't that long when you think about it though
I guess in the blogging world it is
There has been an unanticipated lull in my writing as soon as summer hit and like I just said about 15 words ago, it was quite unanticipated...shocking really
So I think there is no other reason for this blog than to update on things and maybe ramble about whatever is in my mind. I'm good at that
Where to begin....
So summer has come and it has been welcomed with open arms
So far a week and about a half into the 14 weeks off, it's been good...has the makings for a top notch summer
I am getting almost no hours at Shop N Save and haven't really started any real work yet for the summer so mainly I've been running, playing the guitar, and reading books...actually reading outside to be more specific. It's pretty much better outside.........except when a burning of the skin occurs
I just finished Tony Dungy's book Uncommon. It was an awesome book and a very insightful look as to how an uncommon man lives.
That is my ultimate goal when it boils down to it. If I had to use one word about how I want to live, it would be uncommon.
I want to go against the norm of the average (almost) 22 year old. I want to be different and make different decisions, think a different way, live a different way...be rare in who I am
I want to treat people around me in an uncommon way, opposite of the what have you done for me lately? society.
I want to be a gentleman and show women the respect and honor they deserve. I'm not here to "conquer" and add notches to the belt
I am saving myself for my wife and looking forward to the day when I can present her with a whole me...that is uncommon
I want people to be able to open up to me in confidence and know there will be only love
I am always conscious of who is watching
I want my integrity to speak for me.
Through many experiences I've come to find....
It's tough being uncommon.
That's what I live for
Already this summer, I've been able to meet/hang out with some incredible people.
I am very blessed in the relationships I have. Many of my friends and people I love to be around go to my church (or live with me in the case of my brothers)
If anybody is looking for a church that just loves the Lord and loves people then Church on the Rock is the place.
Man, I love it!!!
Hmmm let's see....
Cars
So I had a truck I was going to buy....the guy sold it to somebody else....that hurt
I just recently found another car I was going to buy...a guy bought it literally as I was pulling up....another zinger
So I'm still in the market...I've have come to the conclusion that a. buying a car is a tedious process b. car salesmen are an interesting and unique group of people and c. cars are expensive
I started using my Twitter more. I think I'm going to take this time to apologize to Twitter. A little while ago I wrote this.
It was a pretty scathing review of Twitter but I've come to find that Twitter is indeed quite delightful. Sorry Twitter, my bad
side note- 3.8 for the semester...I actually went on the Lindenwood website, went to my grades, printed them out and stuck them on the fridge...they deserve that honor
OK, that is about it..it's nice to be back in the blogging game. Hopefully I will be more consistent because I'm sure everybody is hanging on my every move. (probably not)
Thanks for reading!!

Finals week
Finals week
The one week of the year when all bets are off and personal hygiene is optional (joking)
This week o' finals is not going to be too grueling and of all the semesters to have a pretty smooth finals week, this is it.
I've never been a fan of finals until I got to college. Actually, I'm still not much of a fan but at least a good 99% of finals in college aren't testing the whole semester.
I didn't do much studying this weekend because my finals are pretty cut and dry
It'll be nice getting away from campus for a good while and back home. I always sleep better at home.
And my dog is there
Justin and Jamison graduate from their first year of the Midwest Movement on Wednesday. It's crazy how fast a year has come and gone. It just seems like last summer just got over with
I was talking to Jamison about that last week. It's incredible how different I am as individually as well as how different our family is.
And the best is yet to come
In light of the summer fast approaching, I am getting pretty excited about the freedom from papers, tests, lesson plans, and whatever else I do at school.
I think I'm going to see some movies this summer. I always say that
And read a lot of books. I'm shooting for 10
I'm going to play my guitar mucho
I'm kinda in the process of writing a song but I'm starting to think that I'm not called to write songs.
Anyway....
Family, work, books, guitar, possibly movies
That's the theme for this summer

List o' Cereal
I think the best thing about this here blog is that I can indeed blog about whatever suits my fancy....
For some strange reason, I'm in a cereal blogging kind of mood
Let's be honest, cereal deserves a blog post
So let me run down my cereal favs
You may agree....you may disagree
I say we just all agree that They're Grrrreat! (I am not cool)
OK....
LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!! (I need to calm down)
1. Reese's Puff Cereal
This is it my friends, this is THE cereal. I could eat this cereal maybe every single day of my life. Why you ask?
It's Reese's... for breakfast!
seriously, Reese's for breakfast...candy in the A.M...can't be beat
If anybody is at the grocery store and wants to buy me cereal....here ya go

2.Cookie Crisp
I was never really a fan of Cookie Crisp until just a few years ago
Since then, it's been nothing but love for this cookie cereal
This cereal is delight I tell you...and I'm sorry but if you don't like Cookie Crisp then we're gonna rumble

3. Frosted Flakes
Simply a classic in the world of cereals
classic mascot, classic tag line, classic taste
I can admit this one may have been #1 for me but has taken a hit the past few years.
However, old FF is a mainstay and will never go away

4. Cocoa Pebbles
Yes, pebbles of cocoa...you'd be hard pressed to find anything better
I think I've downed like 9 bowls in a row (disgusting) and that's why they are on the list
The bowls can keep on coming...this a fine quality to have
I tip my hat to you cocoa pebbles

5. Special K Blueberry
IN A SHOCKER!!!
Special K makes the list!!
You may be wondering HOW?? WHY???
I don't lie...this cereal is outstanding
I will not apologize for my love of blueberry cereal (not that anybody asked me to)
Give this tasty treat of a cereal a try today (that's hard to say) and you won't be disappointed!
Look at the box.....you could lose 6 pounds in 2 weeks...
It's a miracle cereal!!

After much deliberation, I thought it would be necessary to include an honorable mention list.
These cereals are no less outstanding in their overall tastiness but just missed the list for various reasons.
1. Frosted Cheerios
2. Count Chocula
3. Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch (whose first name is Horatio...fun fact)
4. Honey Comb
5. Cinnamon Toast Crunch

New Look
I've been toiling...yes, toiling..under the pressure of spicing up the look of the blog. I was pretty unsatisfied by the options available for new blog backgrounds. However, I did find this swell background that I thought was pretty nice to look at.
So, that's the change. I figured I would announce that I changed the background. I think really because I am avoiding at all costs working on a paper.
I tend to get distracted at times
By people mostly (and Facebook, this blog, my phone, iPod...but you get the idea) I guess I would consider myself a "people watcher" of sorts but not necessarily in a creepster way. I think it's interesting to see how people interact and react to each other.
Lindenwood is unique in the diversity of people on campus.
I appreciate that.
There are so many interesting people from around the world
It really puts things in perspective when you simply stop and look.
Look at who is around you.
I think there are times when we get caught up in our own world, our focus gets narrow.
This is a world of stories, histories, and hearts. There are so many people to know and impact.
I find that my little world gets overinflated at times.
Take some time out and look.
Look for opportunities to deflate your world a little bit
I appreciate you guys
Have a great week

New Album
I just bought a new album last night off iTunes.Random Fact: I love iTunes gift cards more than a lot of things
Tyler Vaughn is an incredible prophetic songwriter/worship leader at Destiny Church in St. Louis. His new album Restoration is outstanding and I'd recommend it to anybody.
The lyrics in most of his songs speak to the heart about living in full abandonment to God and our call to consecration as we offer ourselves to the Lord.
It's time we turn our hearts back to the Father
I decided to put up the first song off his album. It's called Beautiful Children. It's probably my favorite song on the album.
It's a pretty long song but I hope you guys like it.
If you want to check out the album, click here
Coffee
I promised an outstanding young woman that I'd blog about her place of employment.
Normally I just don't blog about any place but this deserves a special blog
Mountain Mudd
This little coffee hut actually makes coffee taste good to me and that is quite the feat in itself.
Everybody in my family drinks coffee except me so that's saying something
If you are in the greater St. Charles/St. Peters area, head on over right off Mexico on Mid Rivers Mall Drive to Mountain Mudd
I think they have like 300 flavors of coffee so I'm sure you can find something that suits your fancy.
Mountain Mudd=good coffee
Dare I say better than Starbucks??!?!?
I think I just did

First Post in May
It's Friday
P.S Click on each comic strip to make it bigger
It's May
It's Calvin and Hobbes
C&H was first published in the mid 80's and ran through '95ish...
Bill Watterson always put out a classy strip with witty punchlines and expert illustrations
Safe to say, it's probably one of the most famous comic strips ever to grace the newspapers.
The thing about Calvin was his use of big words despite only being 6 years old. That's outstanding to me.
I think what really is so righteous about Calvin and Hobbes is that it could actually be a real kid. Most comics are a little far-fetched but that strip is pretty realistic.
and really I think secretly everybody wished at one time that their stuffed animals could come to life and talk (maybe I was the only one)
