So I just got done teaching a lesson in a real high school class...like a real high school teacher
Kind of
Let me first say this: teaching is not all that simple and quite honestly not too fun (at least this experience wasn't)
I was only supposed to review some Vietnam War stuff, give them a worksheet, go over said worksheet and boom, done.....pretty cut and dry
I am the type of person who doesn't necessarily mind being in front of people and am really pretty comfortable with those type of situations.....
This wasn't one of those situations
Let me quickly run down the key points in a 5 point presentation....
1. I felt I knew what I was talking about but ultimately the nerves got me into speed mode and when I get into speed mode, watch out...the words FLY...and the speed causes my mouth to get really dry (#4)
2. It was tough going into a class and just taking it over. The kids had seen me before but just me sitting there taking notes while watching another teacher do the teaching. The class was pretty cool but again, it was uncomfortable
3. There was a camera set up in the back of the room and that was the kicker for the students. Let's make this awkward. ( I helped a lot)
4. My mouth got really dry and my lips attempted to cement together while my tongue decided to not work...made for some interesting words
5. This was all for a grade....a big grade
Bonus #6. It was really hot in the classroom and the sweat started pouring.......never good....ever
Honestly, I actually didn't do that bad but that wouldn't have made a good blog. It was interesting to say the least. There were a few of the students that answered all my questions and I thank them because the last thing I needed was dead air time.
Overall, I'm pretty pumped it's over
That's all
Dry mouth is always a bad expierience while speaking....hopefully u didnt get that frothy build up on the corners of your mouth too
