I'm working on a paper about Rwanda..basically the movie Hotel Rwanda in paper form...and I needed a break.
It's not the most uplifting topic to write about...
I was at one of my buddies house this past weekend and his sister is getting married in about 2 months and we were talking to her about her marriage...for some reason I've been pondering the issue for a couple days
I have never been married obviously (don't even have a girlfriend...burn...but not really)
I would assume being married has gotta be outrageously awesome!
Think about it...you are married to your best friend, the one person you love the most in your life and you are together for the rest of your life! (sounds pretty awesome to me)
So if you couldn't tell, I'm pretty juiced about getting married (whenever that is going to be)
First off though I would like to say, my parents are outstanding....they put the Lord first in their marriage and they are an awesome example of commitment and truly living out love...because I fully believe love is a decision every single day and definitely not a feeling
If you are like me (or any normal human) then you change emotions and feelings many times during the day...
So I just wanted to brag on my parents...they rock
Anyway, I was thinking about marriage and finding a wife that has an undivided heart for the Lord
I'm thinking of a Proverbs 31 woman...
Proverbs 31:10
A capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman--who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies or pearls
I believe a wife should be cherished above all things because a Godly woman is worth it!!
I think The Message Bible sums that up for me pretty well (Thanks Message Bible!)
Ephesians 5:25 -28
Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church—a love marked by giving, not getting. Christ's love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. Everything he does and says is designed to bring the best out of her, dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness. And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They're really doing themselves a favor—since they're already "one" in marriage.
In Mark 10, it talks about a man and woman and the plan of unity that God intended...
Mark 10:6-9:6
...God made them male and female from the beginning of creation. This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.
I believe the blessing that's on a marriage covenant when the Lord has a hand on it is powerful
Anyway, those are just a small sampling of the thoughts that have kind of been swimming around in the ol' noggin...
I am pretty sure I can say for a fact that I am not ready to get married but I am putting faith in my Heavenly Father and the woman He is preparing for me...
hopefully this doesn't make me sound desperate (this blog could backfire)
No backfire at all man I feel the same way. Whoever God is preparing for me will be there when its His will. Solid post, I think alot of ppl shoud read this considering the divorsed rate is above 50% these days! Obviously mans way isnt fairing all that great....
